Changes and Etsy Help

Ok... sorry... It has been awhile since I posted. There is a change in the what I put on this blog and started a new blog. I love reading. So I decided to create "Jeanna's Bookshelf" at http://jeannasbookshelf.blogspot.com/ for all my book reads and reviews. And yes, I have a few reviews. One was for "The Chocolate Diaries" (excellent book) and then I also read and reviewed "Between Friends" another EXCELLENT book. So please go check out my other blog and feel free to follow that one too! :)

Ahhh on to Etsy. I have a few few items on Etsy.com (http://www.etsy.com/shop/morgan1875?ref=si_shop) but sadly they are not selling. :( So off I went to get a little Etsy help with my cousin. We got some great tips and great inspiration from a successful Etsy seller Lana's Little Darlin's (http://www.etsy.com/shop/lanaslittledarlins). She has some of the cutest items for baby, toddlers, and kids. The best advise was to keep at it and blog blog blog. Does anyone else have great tips for Etsy? It was suggested that there be a giveaway on my blog. I just might try that. Also sales were good. And heck, who doesn't like a sale!!

I did drop off all my business cards with a deal on them and a raffle item to the Pleasanton Mother's Club for their Mother's day brunch. That goes to 200 people so I am hoping something good comes out of that!! Crossing my fingers. I also am looking into being at the San Ramon Farmers Market. I just need to finalize a few things to get the ball rolling.

Etsy friends, if you can help out with suggestions I would appreciate it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am off to finally finish my nieces blanket. I swear I will finish...

  1. jeanna,

Have you tried joining some Etsy teams? A lot of them are dedicated to promoting stores and have really done wonders for my views! Especially if you are picked as "shop of the day" I would also suggest Twitter, and following as many crafty people as you can! Thanks for following me :)

  5. I am not sure what you sell at your shop but I know that if you can have someone do a review/giveaway on their blog for your stuff that can really help. I have done a few etsy reviews for people and it at least bring traffic to your site. The first one I did at least 50 people have looked at the esty shop I am reviewing. I am your newest follower from the finding new friends blog hop. I am tring to play catch up from the weekend! :) I am one of the hosts! Stopping by to say hi! Hope to see ya on all my blogs :) I have giveaways going on my my grocery game and my Fire butterfly Jewels blog! :)

  7. I have a currently unstocked etsy shop. (Having a walking toddler will throw a kink in things!).

I agree with the suggestion about reaching out to blogs, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate for your product. I would say that it would be better to have a blog run a review than a giveaway, somehow featuring the excitement of a new mom receiving her gift. Pictures of the unwrapping process and the new mom's delight would be most appropriate.

However, a blog review is not the end-all-be-all of etsy-ville. Before you invest in sending your product off to be reviewed (typically at your expense), you should shine up your shop. Here are a few tips:

Lighten up your photographs. I can tell you've worked on them, and they do look good. Use picnik.com to adjust the exposure and contrast to make them pop.

Use all five of your pictures to focus on different parts of your product. Detail shots can do a world of good.

Offer a variety of items. I see above that you are going to make a blanket. That's great! Perhaps branch out in other ways, as well. The more you have to offer, the better the chance that someone will buy. You talk about diaper cakes and diaper wreaths, so make some up and list them.

Persevere! Don't give up. Make lots of connections. Advertise for free using project wonderful. Use Twitter. Set up a Facebook page. Join forums like blogfrog and iVillage and include your shop link in your signature.

    Good luck!
